Cranberries at Dion's

You might not know this but Dion's carries dried cranberries. They are in the koolsla. If you really want to add something great to your salad you should ask for them. Especially the gourmet salads. Right now at the Bernalillo store they are readily available so your salad maker won't have to go look for them.
If you don't like Dion's mix or tomatoes you can get the crans for free by saying: "no mix, sub craisins"
Make sure and add them to the gourmet chicken salad. That's the best.

That is all. I really hope you all respond to this because I want crans at dions to be a thing and I want to be the one who started it.

The 6 Inch Texan Burger

~If Dion's has it they will put it on your Pizza. You want a pickle pizza? They will make you a pickle pizza. But what lots of people don't know is the same goes for their salads, subs and garlic toast. I love to get a tomato, mushroom and Swiss garlic toast with their amazing Greek dressing. So good.

~So lets say your whole family decides to go out for pizza one night and everyone is excited about it but then suddenly your stubborn son decides he doesn't like pizza. Today all he wants is a burger. It happens a lot. I see Burger King and McDonald's in the stor all of the time. Well instead of going to two restaurants you can just make a custom sub that tastes like an awesome burger.

All subs come with Tomatoes, Mayo, Mustard, Onions, Lettuce,
Pickles, a dressing and a side of chips, "Koolsa" or a fruit cup.
I'm highlighting what I like to call "The 6" Texan" First off in order to not be charged extra for anything you have to keep all your ingredients under 4.5 oz.. 1 oz is always for cheese because Dion's slices of cheese are 1 oz.. For this one I use Cheddar. For a really good flavor I use 1 oz. of Italian Sausage to 2 oz. Beef. Then to top it off I ask for .5 oz of Jalapenos and BBQ sauce. They might charge you 40 cents extra for the BBQ but it is worth it. To phrase it in a way that your Dion's person doesn't get confused just say, "Can I get a 6 inch sub with 2 ounces of beef, 1 ounce of Italian sausage, a half of an ounce of jalapenos, cheddar and BBQ sauce." Don't forget to tell them what kind of dressing you want on the side. I always get the Blue Cheese for burgers.

This is a really good combination but you can always change it up to your prefered taste. Just make sure for a 6 inch sub all your ingredients add up to 4.5 ounces (1 oz for cheese) or for Dion's 10 inch sub 8 ounces (2 oz for cheese). I give this Sub a 7 out of 10 for Dion's food.

Enjoy!

Not Pizza: A Brief History

There are two things that a native New Mexican may ask their parents to ship to them in a care package: Green Chilli and Dion's Ranch. It's a fact. Sadly it most likely will stay that way for at least another decade.. I personally won't leave the state because the withdrawal from both sounds horrible. (It's true, you can get Dion's in CO and TX but... eh)
Now Green Chilli has native rights to this state. This is where it's grown. Chilli is to NM as oranges are to Florida. But Dion's Ranch? For you who don't know... it the best dip/dressing (and yes, sauce) that you could ever put on anything that needs a perk up. I dip my pizza, subs, taquitos, chicken... anything that you dip, I dip it in D's Ranch. And as far as I know it was invented here in NM solidifying Dion's foundation to the state.
But this blog is not about Dion's Ranch. It's about people like me. People who are addicted to Dion's food but want more. After all, addicts don't just want the same punch, they want more. And Dion's has more..

Right now if you order Dion's you will be presented with three options for dinner: Pizza(their trademark food), Subs and Salads. Your normal Pizza place usually gives you two options: Pizza and wings (wings are usually a side). From those three dishes one can normally come up with something appeasing to the appetite making it the perfect place to go when the appetite is in an indecisive mood or when you are in a big group of people and want to make sure everyone can get something that they like. Making it the perfect place to go week after week after week... by your choice or not...

So what do you do once you have had everything on the menu 10 times? You stop ordering off the menu. And when you do want some boneless chicken wings and the reg girl says they don't have wings you say "Well then give me a half bowl of cooked chicken with BBQ sauce and a side of Bleu Cheese dressing!" but say it nice.
